This month was an especially exciting month for Northside!

                                                                   Jamie Parnell: Northside Librarian

Northside School received a $1,300 grant from James Patterson and Scholastic Reading Club to help our school library after Jamie Parnell, our school librarian worked diligently to earn this special award. We want to thank #PattersonPledge and Jamie for getting books into the hands of our students. Since 2015, James Patterson is has donated $3.5 million of his own money to save under-funded school libraries nationwide. Thank you!

First, Jayne Sturm was selected as November's Teacher of the Month through a program sponsored by Alliance Title and Escrow Group. This exemplar educator was featured in the Sandpoint Magazine, as well. Look for the article featuring her career. She will be so missed when she retires in June. Her photo is featured on our website's banner.

New Math Curriculum ~ Yahooo

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Community Members:

Wow, thanks to your generous support, we were able to purchase new math curriculum. A team of teachers, community members and administrators piloted almost every available curriculum last year, so we could find the best fit for our children.

We landed on GoMath for K-5 and Big Ideas for 6th Grade. I know you will love the fact that kids now have books, with examples and practice. We thank you for your patience with New York Engage Math (the curriculum we used for the last couple of years). Although students learned to think more deeply about concepts, we know it was difficult sometimes on you at home. Soooo, with that in mind, these two new curriculums come with lots of at home help.

Every student should have a log in where they can access this all on line!! Check it out! Ask them to show you. If they haven't received this log-in, let your teacher know.

For Go Math (K-5):
This first link is a video tutorial which will be of tremendous help.

For Big Ideas (6th Grade): Let me know what you think...the good, the bad and the ugly.

Good day to you!

Thank you for checking my blog. It is my hope that you will use this area to give us all feedback, suggestions, and comments about...well, just about anything. Also, it is my hope that you will check on any news I might have to share.
Sometimes I will ask questions, and sometimes I'll report on the great things going on in our school.

I'm going to start by stating we had an excellent first day of school!! Your children were so well behaved and ready to learn. As I visited every classroom, all I saw were smiling faces looking up at me!

We are proud of them all...and thank you for getting them to school on time and for helping them come prepared!! I'll post some photos once we get our permissions.

Oh, by the way. Thank you for reading the handbook. All of this information is essential to share as it will help you navigate our year. Thank you again for being AWESOME!!

With warm regards, Ms. Hagadone
