Dear Northside Families,
February already?! How can that be? The year is flying by! This month, you’ll see students diving deeper into their learning, setting and accomplishing goals, and celebrating progress along the way. February is also a time when we focus on kindness, respect, and strong friendships—values that help make our school such a caring and supportive place for kids to learn and grow.
We have so many fun events coming up this month! Our PTO meeting has been moved up to Tuesday, February 3rd in order to discuss Missoula Children’s Theater. We are thrilled to be able to participate in MCT again this year, which will take place February 23rd–February 28th.
Northside is also offering an Early Literacy Family Training on Wednesday, February 11th, right after school. Childcare and snacks will be provided! Please RSVP by emailing me or calling Ms. Debbie in the office. On February 12th, PTO will be hosting a Family Movie Night, featuring Despicable Me 4.
Looking ahead, the first week of March is Read Across America Week! We’ll be celebrating each day with a fun dress-up theme, along with a special read-in on Monday, March 2nd, complete with some fun gifts to support our readers.
Speaking of reading, Accelerated Reader (AR) is one of the ways we help make reading fun, meaningful, and successful for our students at Northside. Through AR, students choose books that fit both their reading level and interests, then show what they’ve learned by taking a short comprehension quiz. AR encourages daily reading, builds confidence, and helps students see themselves as capable, growing readers. Teachers use this information to celebrate progress and support each child’s next steps. When families cheer on reading at home and talk about books together, it makes the experience even more powerful!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful to be part of such an amazing school community.
Warmly, Mrs. Watson
