Dear Northside Families,
October is here, the weather is changing, students are settling into routines, engaging deeply in learning, and showing growth in both academics and character. This month, we’ll continue focusing on building strong learning habits and practicing our PAWS behavior expectations. The end of October brings the end of the first quarter... can you believe it?!
The end of the first quarter means AR goals are due as well. Thank you for taking the time outside of school to read with your student. Reading every day—at home and at school—builds vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and opens doors to lifelong learning. I appreciate you taking the time to encourage your child to read and talk about their books. A few minutes of reading each day truly adds up! 📚
Kindergarten through third grade will be taking part in the iStation reading assessment early in October. The assessment is now called Amira, and if you would like to learn a little more about changes to this assessment please see the letter below. A few quick announcements:
As the weather cools, please remind your student to dress appropriately for outdoor recess and activities.
Please feel free reach out to your student’s classroom teacher with any questions about routines or learning.
Northside’s Scholarship Pig Raffle begins today!
We are now a Title school! You are invited to join us for an informational family meeting following the PTO meeting in our gym on October 8th .
I look forward to a rich month of learning and growing. Happy fall Huskies!! 🍁
Warmly, Mrs. Watson
To better meet the needs of students, Kindergarten will have a later start for the 2025–2026 School Year, with in-person classes beginning on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025.
The first two days (Sept. 2nd and 3rd) will be dedicated to assessments, giving teachers the ability to better understand your child's individual needs.
